Foster House
Over 106 homes with a wide variety of architectural styles are in our historic district.

Bullock County offers many opportunities to explore Alabama's history, from the days of the early Indians to the present. We gladly preserve beautiful old homes and commercial buildings, commemorate historic sites and adapt many of the customs of our fore-bears to the modern age.

Churches: Sunday church attendance, annual songfests and celebrations are a strong link to Bullock County's pioneer past. Simple country churches as well as imposing Gothic designs show the pride and care of generations of worshippers.

Homes: An impressive 106 homes are in our historic district. These homes consist of a wide variety of architectural styles.

Buildings: Our Historic District contains 45 commercial buildings that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Pauley Jail Museum. The oldest surviving jail in the state, the Pauly Jail, erected in 1897, is a three-story red brick structure. Read More.

Events

If you're visiting in the winter, Bullock County offers some of the best hunting in the southeast and the annual National Amateur Free-for-All is the largest amateur field trials in the nation!

In April you can be a part of the Chunnenuggee Fair, a town fair featuring arts and crafts, locally made items, live music, games, and plenty of food!  In both April and May you can enjoy the Conecuh People Experience, which includes tours of historic buildings and homes, historic and artistic exhibits, dinner, theatre, and lodging.

In the summer months you can challenge the Alabama sun to a day of fishing, or take a driving tour of the historical buildings and houses in town (read about the tour route on the Tourism Council web site).

Throughout the fall, the local Homecoming Parade, the Junior Miss pagent, our Veteran's Day Celebration, the Christmas Parade and the Fall Fest all draw crowds from near and far.  If you're planning to be in town near Christmas time, be sure to set aside time for driving the historic neighborhoods to see the lights and decorations. In addition, Bullock County offers some of the best deer hunting in the state.

Regardless of the time of year you plan to visit, there is plenty to see and do in and around Union Springs.  If you need maps and directions or help finding lodging here in Union Springs, it's all available on this website and the Tourism Council website.

If you have any questions about visiting our town, contact the Tourism Council of Bullock County at 334.738.TOUR (8687) or tour1@ustconline.net. For more visitor information visit their web site at www.unionspringsalabama.com.
